Kurama (Yu Yu Hakusho)

History

Kurama, a fictional character from Yoshihiro Togashi's manga series Yu Yu Hakusho, as cosplayed by our model Lindsie. The center photo shows Lindsie and her cosplay partner Amara with their Judges Award at Colossalcon 5 (2006).

Garment Details

Since there are no real patterns for Anime characters, this was a challenge to put together. The material used was cotton broadcloth in bold colors. Our seamstress had to work from pictures, as well as talking directly with the model, to prepare a pattern and put together an outfit that came as close to the picture as possible. The garment underneath consists two pieces - slacks and a top with a long tunic that is open at the sides. The tunic is then belted to close the sides at the waist.

We also created a pair of slippers to match the character's footwear and complete the outfit.

Karasu (Yu Yu Hakusho)

History

Karasu, a fictional character from Yoshihiro Togashi's manga series Yu Yu Hakusho, as cosplayed by our model Brittany.

Garment Details

The character Karasu proved to be even more challenging to reproduce. Several pictures were used to determine how the clothing moved on the character and to make the patterns that would be used. Again, this outfit consists of three pieces, leggings, a vest type top, and a cape that is attached to the top at the back. The vest, cloak and leggings were constructed from black knit fabric. The Vest and cape also have a lightweight red broadcloth lining which helps to give it some structure and helps to keep it from stretching out. Boning was used in the collar to make it stand up in the back.
